Choosing a color format
- HEX / HEX8
- HEX represents color; HEX8 also includes opacity. Check whether the destination supports eight-digit color codes.
- RGB / RGBA
- Represents red, green and blue values. RGBA also includes opacity.
- HSL / HSLA
- Represents hue, saturation and lightness. HSLA also supports opacity.
- HSV / HSB
- Represents hue, saturation and brightness. Use the format expected by your software.
- CMYK (approximate)
- An estimate calculated from a screen color. It does not reproduce specific inks, paper or print settings.
Check a color in the HEX field, then copy its RGB value for an app that requires RGB input.

Frequently asked questions
Can I pick a color directly from the screen?
This tool selects, adjusts and converts colors. Use the Screen Color Eyedropper to pick a color from the screen.
Will the CMYK values print exactly the same color?
Print color is not guaranteed. Use these as estimates and check the printer’s requirements and actual print samples.
Does changing opacity change HEX?
Use HEX8, RGBA or HSLA to include opacity. Standard HEX and RGB alone do not represent transparency.
Why does a color look different on another screen?
Brightness, color settings and background colors affect appearance. Check the color in the environment where it will be used.
