Choosing output settings

Prioritize quality
Choose this to preserve appearance as much as possible. File size reduction varies by image.
Recommended and prioritize size
Recommended balances quality and size. Prioritize size aims for smaller files. Check fine text and edges in the output.
Image dimensions
Choose a maximum long edge or enter a custom value. Use the dimensions needed at the destination.
Output format and transparency
For still images, choose the original format, JPEG, PNG or WebP. Converting a transparent image to JPEG requires a background color.
Animation
GIF remains GIF, and animated PNG retains its format. Frames are not dropped and playback speed is not changed.
Resize images for a website

Add a large photo, choose Recommended and set a suitable long edge for the website. Check text, detail and file size before saving.

Processing and data

Images may be temporarily uploaded to and stored on this site’s server for compression when needed. They are deleted on download, finish or cancellation. Interrupted data becomes unavailable after 60 minutes and is removed by automatic cleanup. Review the upload and deletion information shown in the tool.

Frequently asked questions

Will the file always become smaller?

Already optimized images may shrink little. When format and dimensions remain unchanged, the original image may be used if the processed file is larger.

Can I use HEIC or SVG?

HEIC/HEIF, SVG, TIFF, RAW, PDF and video are excluded. Prepare a supported format.

Is quality preserved?

Appearance may change depending on settings and format. Zoom in to inspect output, particularly when prioritizing size or resizing.

What if processing fails?

Check format, size, image count and the on-screen guidance. It may be possible to retry only the failed images.
