CSV Editor

View CSV as a table and edit text, rows and columns.

About this tool

Open CSV files as a spreadsheet to edit cells, rows and columns as text. Editing normally runs on this device. Server storage lets you save the CSV and edit history and resume your work.

Editing location

Server mode stores the CSV and edit history on this site so you can reopen the page and resume. Switching with a CSV open stores that CSV on the server. Editing itself runs on this device in both modes.

How-to guide CSV Editor

Open your CSV as a table and edit what you need.

Open product lists, contact lists or import data as a table to edit cells, rows and columns. Every cell is treated as text, helping preserve leading zeros and long reference numbers.

How to use the CSV Editor

  1. STEP 01

    Open a CSV file

Choose one CSV file or drag and drop it into the input area. If text is garbled or columns are separated incorrectly, check input encoding and delimiter, then reload with those settings.

  2. STEP 02

    Edit cells, rows and columns

Double-click a cell, or select it and edit in the selected-cell field. Copy and paste, add or remove rows and columns, and use Undo to reverse an operation.

  3. STEP 03

    Review save settings and download

Check encoding, delimiter, line endings and quotation settings. Download the edited CSV to save the result as a file.

Changes are not saved automatically. Download the edited CSV before closing or reloading the page. The original file is not overwritten directly.

Keep numbers and dates as text

Cells are not automatically converted to numbers, dates or formulas. Review and edit the original CSV text as it is.

Numbers with leading zeros
00123 stays 00123 rather than becoming 123. This is useful for product codes, member numbers and other fixed-length identifiers.
Long numbers
Long identifiers remain strings. They are not rounded as numbers or automatically converted to scientific notation.
Date-like text
Text such as 1-2 or 2026/09/01 is not automatically converted to another date format.
Formula-like text
Values such as =1+1 are displayed as text and are not calculated.
Example: keep the product code and change only the name
Before
Product code: 00123
Product name: Blue ballpoint pen
After
Product code: 00123
Product name: Black ballpoint pen

Editing the product name preserves leading zeros in the product code.

The tool does not automatically recover zeros lost in another app or previously converted dates. Other software may convert values again when opening the saved CSV, depending on its import settings.

Useful editing features

Copy and paste

Select a cell or range to copy, cut or paste. You can also paste multiple cells from Excel or Google Sheets.

If the paste button does not work, try Ctrl+V on Windows or Command+V on Mac.

Add and remove rows or columns

Select a row number or column heading and use the toolbar. The context menu can insert rows above or below, or columns to the left or right.

Deleting a cell clears its contents. Deleting a row or column removes the entire row or column.

Undo and redo

Use Undo after an accidental edit and Redo to reapply an operation you undid.

Undo history is limited and cannot restore a session after the page closes.

Adjust the display

Adjust column widths and row heights, and toggle wrapping for long text. Use the selected-cell field to view a cell’s full text.

Display settings such as column widths and wrapping are not saved as CSV formatting.

Import and save settings

CSV formats vary by source and destination. Keep the input settings unless the destination requires different ones.

Encoding
Defines how text is represented as data. UTF-8, Windows-31J/CP932 and Shift_JIS are supported. If text is garbled, check the source settings.
Delimiter
Separates columns. Comma, semicolon, tab and pipe are supported. Review this setting if all data appears in one column.
Line endings
Keep the input setting or choose CRLF, LF or CR. Change it when the destination requires a specific value.
Quoting
Controls whether cells are enclosed in double quotes. Keep input quoting or quote only required cells or all cells. Contents with commas or embedded line breaks are supported.

If a selected encoding cannot represent a character, saving stops with a message. Review the character or choose an encoding supported by the destination.

Useful for

Product lists

Preserve product codes while editing names and descriptions. Use Find and replace for repeated changes.

Contact lists and reference data

Review member numbers and phone numbers while editing required cells and rows.

Before system imports

Check column positions and values and add or remove rows and columns. Choose the output format required by the destination.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open Excel files or several files?

Open one .csv file at a time. .xlsx, .xls, .txt, Word and simultaneous editing of several files are unsupported. Export an Excel file to CSV first.

Is the first row treated as a header?

The first row is ordinary data and can be edited or removed. Row numbers and A/B/C column headings are interface controls and are not written to the CSV.

Can I use formulas, sorting or filters?

Formula and function calculations, sorting and filters are unsupported. The tool edits cells as text and does not support colors, fonts or merged-cell formatting.

Are files or edits sent to a server?

Reading, editing and exporting run in your browser. File contents and edits are not sent to or stored on a server. There is no automatic saving or session restoration after closing the page, so download required results.

Why is formula-like content flagged?

Cells starting with = or similar characters may be interpreted as formulas by spreadsheet software. This tool does not calculate them or change their values automatically. Review flagged cells and their handling at the destination.

Are there file size or row limits?

File size, rows, columns and total cells are limited according to login status and plan. Check the values above the tool. Device memory may prevent processing large files even within those limits.
